It is spring! And with spring comes a sense of possibilities, of movement, growth and Spring Cleaning!
Yes, there is the house to clean! But did you know that houses in dreams supposedly represent our bodies? Your body — the sacred home that the inner “you” inhabits, deserves your cleaning attention as well! Let’s talk about Spring Cleaning for your body’s energy system! Super Vac for the soul! Spring Clean – Super Vac Your Energy

In the traditional Chinese Medicine system, the five elements represent the elemental frequencies of the body. These are Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. These frequencies, which run through meridians of the body, correspond with the seasons, organs’ movements and even emotions. When these elements are in balance, working in harmony, our body, mind and spirit experience health and well being.  When they are out of balance, disease, emotional imbalance, and pain can result.
The element that corresponds with Spring is Wood and the two organs governed by Wood are the Liver and Gallbladder.  The liver is called the ‘General’ or ‘Chief of Staff’ and is responsible for filtering, detoxifying, nourishing, replenishing, and storing blood. It is also responsible for goals, creativity. If you want clear vision and goals, and to bring them into being with an organized, calm flow of energy, you want your liver to be happy.

So if you are feeling cranky, disorganized, and frustrated or angry, your Liver may want to have some help to bring back in balance to  a flowing, organized self. Or if you feel like you can’t get things sorted out, your gallbladder energy may like a stimulating balance to awaken its clarity.

When toxic or overworked, the Liver becomes agitated and can act a little ornery. Since it is about movement, when it feels backed into corner it resorts to active force. Shouting, punching and exploding  – general rabble rousing.  What are some symptoms of a liver breaking through stagnation in overdrive? Migraines, arguments, nausea, vomiting, bad hair days and PMS. As the opposite effect, when there are deficiencies in the liver meridian, it can lead to depression and sluggishness.

The Liver and Gallbladder meridian pathways traverse the top and sides of the head, the most common sites for migraine headaches. Imbalance can present as blurred vision, mood swings and spasms. If you feel like it is just too much to make a decision, it’s an indication this system needs attention!
Unlike acupuncture, which uses needles to access the meridians, energy medicine uses consciousness, intention and touch to move and balance the energy in your body. Using simple noninvasive techniques, I can ask your body which meridians are out of sorts and help, guide them to work in harmony again.

In my last newsletter, I wrote about how the gallbladder meridian energy acts sort of like a bumper between you and the world. (Click here for that article!)  This meridian filters out daily life experience so we can properly store, expel or address them. Then it hands them off to the liver for filing and storing. The qualities and actions of a happy Gallbladder meridian include both spontaneity and decision-making.

5 Tips for a Happy Liver

1. Tap it!
Here is a simple exercise to support your liver: Feel the rib cage just below the breast line. This is one of the key points on the liver meridian. If it’s sore, tap or rub this spot for 2 – 3 minutes. This will support your liver function! Of course an energy medicine balance can address all the meridians in your body and even more, help you release pain and regain your health.

2. Your Best Rest
The liver does it’s work between 1am and 3am.Get the maximum support for your clarity: be sure you are asleep or horizontal during this time!
